How to Determine Your Ring Size at Home

Knowing your ring size is essential for finding a perfect fit. While the most accurate way is to visit us in our London store, where our team can measure you precisely, you can also measure your ring size at home using several methods. For those who can’t make it to us or another jeweller, here’s a guide to help you accurately determine your ring size from the comfort of your own home.

When Should You Measure Your Ring Size?

The ideal time to measure your ring size is in the evening. Throughout the day, your fingers naturally swell, reaching their maximum size in the evening. Measuring your fingers when they are at their largest ensures a comfortable fit. Avoid measuring your fingers when they’re cold, as this can make them appear up to half a size smaller. For the best results, measure your fingers several times to confirm accuracy.

What Should a Properly Fitting Ring Feel Like?

Your ring should fit snugly but not be too tight. It should slide over your knuckle with a little resistance and be removable without much difficulty. However, it shouldn’t be so loose that it risks falling off.

The difference between ring sizes is minimal, so you might find that a few sizes feel comfortable. If you’re between sizes, the ring’s design can help determine whether you should size up or down. For instance, wider bands generally fit more snugly, so you might want to go up a size, while thinner bands may require you to size down.

Measuring Your Ring Size with a Ring Sizer

One of the simplest ways to measure your ring size is by using a ring sizer. We offer a convenient ring sizer for just £2.00 (UK only). You can request one here using our contact form.  Slide the ring sizer onto your finger and adjust it until it fits snugly without being too tight. Ensure that you can still slide it over your knuckle. Once it’s in place, use the black arrow to determine your unique ring size.

Using a Mobile App

Several free apps can help you measure your ring size quickly and accurately. Simply download one of these apps and follow the instructions to determine your size.

Converting Ring Sizes Across Countries

Ring sizes can vary by country, similar to clothing sizes. In the UK, we use a letter-based system. If you know your ring size from another country, you can easily convert it using our comparison guide.

Finding your perfect earring length

Finding the perfect earring size is all about balancing your personal style with what complements your features best. The image above is a handy guide to help you visualise how different earring lengths will look when worn.

How to Measure Accurately

To get started, measure from the point where your earring will sit on your earlobe to where you want the earring to hang. You can use a ruler or a measuring tape for accuracy. Hold it up to your ear in front of a mirror to get a sense of where different lengths will fall.

Choosing the Best Earring Length

Short (1-2 inches / 2-4 cm): Perfect for everyday wear, these lengths add a touch of elegance without overpowering your look.

Medium (2-3 inches / 4-6 cm): These are great for adding a bit more flair, ideal for both day and night.

Long (3-4 inches / 6-10 cm): For a bold, statement-making look, longer earrings draw attention and can elongate your neck for a sophisticated effect.

Using this guide, you can confidently choose the earring size that best suits your style and enhances your features.

The perfect fit: how to measure necklace lengths

Choosing the right necklace length can transform your look, whether you're aiming for casual chic or elegant sophistication. The image above is a fantastic tool to help you see how different necklace lengths will drape on your neck and chest, allowing you to pick the perfect length for any occasion.

How to Measure Accurately

To determine your ideal necklace length, measure from the base of your neck down to where you'd like the necklace to rest. You can use a soft measuring tape or a piece of string that you can later measure against a ruler. Make sure to consider your outfit neckline and how you want the necklace to complement or contrast with it.

Choosing the Best Necklace Length

Choker (14-16 inches / 35-40 cm)
These sit closely around your neck and are great for highlighting your neckline, perfect for open or V-neck tops.

Princess (17-19 inches / 43-48 cm)
A versatile length that falls around the collarbone, this is ideal for almost any outfit, from casual to formal.

Matinee (20-24 inches / 51-61 cm)
Slightly longer, this length is perfect for high necklines or for adding a touch of elegance to your daywear.

Opera (28-34 inches / 71-86 cm)
A dramatic length that falls below the bust, ideal for layering or making a statement with a single strand.

Rope (35 inches / 90 cm and longer)
This length adds a touch of glamour, often worn doubled up or knotted, perfect for evening wear or a bold, fashion-forward look.

With this guide, you can confidently select the necklace length that will enhance your outfit and highlight your best features.
